Day 10: Fri 8 Nov - Nha Trang to Tuy Hoa
30-35 degC
Ride: 60km
"Breakfast at the hotel. We cycle 20km along beautiful coast line road. We do not cycle on Highway No. 1. After coffee break, we cycle from the top of the hill to go through the villages, passing schools. The children like to come out and say hello. We stop for packed lunch to enjoy Vietnamese sandwich. After lunch, we cycle on another backroad through villages, passing the reunification express railroad. Then visit a brick factory in a small village before we reach Tuy Hao town, Phu Yen province. Dinner and overnight in Tuy Hoa. Hotel: Sala Tuy Hoa Beach Hotel. Cycle: 50km+"
Wendy had another restless night coughing, which made for a disturbed sleep for us both. We both went for breakfast but Wendy did not eat a lot. We were packed up and ready and waiting for our 7:30am departure. While the rest of the crew rode away from the hotel, Wendy stayed on the bus. We stopped many times for water/snack breaks, mornos, and lunch. For the first time this trip we got off the beaten track and into the back streets and lanes. This is the only way to see the real Vietnam, paddy fields, land based fish farms and water buffalo. And of course the people who often call out "hello" as we pass.
The most amazing sight of the day was a bay absolutely full of fish farms. They grow everything from fish to lobsters and from prawns to oysters. We're not sure that the volume of farms would be allowed back home as the environmental impact of these things are pretty severe. However, if you take into consideration the number of fishing boats working the seas, the farms are going to be the only way to get seafood in the future.
We arrived at our hotel for the night, Sala Tuy Hoa Beach Hotel about 3:30pm which was good going due to the number of stops and a very strong headwind which we road into all day. After checking into room #101, we unpacked and had a little rest.
We met the others at 6:30pm for our usual dinner date that was at Cơm niêu Năm Ánh - Phú Yên about 1.8km from the hotel, and the food was yummy and plentiful again. On the way home we hopped off the bus at the Dragon to take a few photos, then walked home.
A full and enjoyable day on tour.

Wendy, trip looks great. You have had the whole experience with the weather. I heard you’re not feeling well and aren’t cycling? Hope you heel better soon. Kerry P
ReplyDeleteHi KerryP, have been feeling off for almost a week, but seem to be coming good now. Having another 'rest' day at the hotel in preparation for tomorrow's hill ride. Thankyou for thinking of me. How is your recovery going?
