Day 7: Tue 5 Nov - Ho Chi Minh City to Dalat

29-17 deg C
Ride: 39km

"Morning transfer to Dalat. Stop for lunch in Baoloc – a town of tea and coffee in the central region. Ride through plantations and back roads of Dalat. Overnight in Dalat. Cycle: 40km. Hotel: Hotel Roy Dala."

We had to be at breakfast at 6:30 this morning as our departure time was 7:30am. We were all ready and waiting when Tom arrived, including the two Germans who are joining us until the 15 Nov.

We were bused out of town for about 2.5 hours, had mornos then hopped on the bikes. We rode for about 14km before stopping for a drink and snack break. Onwards for another 15km before another break. At the 39km mark we called time because it had just grained and the roads were very dirty and slippery. Before getting on the. Us we had another drink and snack break.

After 1 hr driving, we stopped at our lunch venue where we had a 6 course meal. Not a lot of anything but together it filled us up nicely. Another 3 hours and we arrived at our hotel Hotel Roy Dala about 6pm.

One and a half hours later we were dining at Dalat House Restaurant for another six course meal! Dishes were all very nice, even if some did not taste like the meat they were given as. Some got off the bus at the Night Markets and walked home, while others caught the bus all the way home.

Quite a late night especially as it was an early start. We have another early start tomorrow.

  1. Thanks again for sharing. Oh dear, I would be in a panic, even if you asked me to drive ...with all those scooters etc everywhere!! Pleased you were transported to a "less busy" place for your cycling. It really does look different so am sure you're enjoying that too.
